October 2011 - Very Busy

It seems that our blog is more like a quarterly update.  So, here is a brief summary of October.  Mom and dad were able to get away for a weekend with no kids to Grove Park.  It was for work, but still was very nice.  Of course there are a few Halloween pictures below as well.  The big event of October was Mia turning the BIG 5!!!  She was so excited to take a trip to Atlanta to the GA Aquarium and American Girl store.  It was an awesome family weekend.  The girls did great in the car.  We checked-in to the hotel in downtown Atlanta around 9:00 at night.  The front desk asked what we were in town for and we told them Mia’s birthday.  They asked if we let her eat ice cream.  Those of you that really know our kids know that is what they live off of.  Well, and candy (hence the stomach issues).  They brought a huge piece of cake with ice cream, so the weekend got off to a great start.

Haircuts

Last Thursday, Aunt Jen and I loaded up the three kids and headed to Asheboro.  We met Memaw and Paw Paw at Sir Pizza for dinner.  Friday morning, we went to get our hair cut by one of Aunt Jen's friends, and Paw Paw went with us to help with the kids. They all did really well!  Aunt Jen went first in case Carter got fussy.  Next up was Mia, then Mollie, then me.  Mia did great and Mollie did too!  I couldn't believe it!  I thought for sure Mollie would be a wiggle worm, but she sat right up in the booster with her graham cracker and acted like a big girl.  I think it helped that she saw Aunt Jen and Mia get theirs cut first.  Friday afternoon, we visited Grandma at work and then went to Big Paw Paw's.  On our way to visit Grandma, I got pulled and got a ticket for having an expired registration.  Lovely....Friday evening, we met my best friend and her girls at the Fall Festival parade.  The girls had fun, even though they didn't watch any of the parade.  They spent their time playing and doing gymnastics in the grass.  After that, we went and got yogurt, so it was a busy day!

Saturday Mia and I went to the Fall Festival while Mollie was napping, but only bought a couple bows and some donuts.  We met up with Wendy and her girls again and also with my cousin Ellen and her kids.  The kids spent some time in the bounce houses and enjoyed playing together.  Mia even fell asleep after we got back because she was worn out!  That put us getting back very late on Saturday, but all in all it was a successful trip!  Daddy went to the NCSU game with the guys while we were gone and probably enjoyed getting some rest.    Here are some pictures from the haircuts:

Update

Now I am caught up with the blog!!  Sorry there are so many posts all at one time!  So what is going on now?  Mollie is walking all over the place!  She still enjoys giving hugs, blowing kisses, waving, and getting into everything.  Mia is still enjoying school and gymnastics, and that is keeping us busy.  Daddy is still playing church softball, and they have won 3 games now!  The girls and I are heading to Asheboro for the weekend with Aunt Jen and Carter to get all of our hair cut.  So hopefully next week there will be pictures of Mollie's first haircut!

Here are a few random pictures:

First NCSU game

We attended our first NCSU game of the season Labor Day weekend.  We didn't get tickets last year because Mollie had just been born, but we were excited to get tickets again this year.  The girls did really well and had a good time.

Welcome Carter...our newest member of the family.

Aunt Jen and Unkie welcomed their baby boy, Carter David on August 24 at 11:14 pm after a very long labor.  He weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces and was 21 inches long.  They are all doing well, and the girls love their new cousin.  Mollie is very jealous, but hopefully she will grow out of that soon.

Proud Parents.

Greensboro Science Center

In the middle of August, we met some of my best friends and their kids at the Greensboro Science Center.  We spent almost the whole day there, and the kids had a ball!  There was so much for them to do.

Gymnastics

Mia started gymnastics at the end of July...minus one week where she was really tired and didn't want to participate, she has really enjoyed it.  She and Mackenzie are taking together, so I think that is why she is loving it so much.  We have been impressed with how much they have them doing already!  Front rolls, hand stands, trying splits, strength training, balance beam, etc.
